Filtering Masterpieces

Filters make everything look better right? So what happens when you apply them to photographic masterpieces?
Mastergram pulls out iconic pictures and adds an Instagram twist, which they freely admit can be good or bad. Take a look at this one of Steve Curry’s “Afghan Girl” (above)
Or this one of Harold Egerton’s “Bullet Through an Apple” (1964)

or Bresson’s ‘Behind the Gare St. Lazare”, (1932)

And even, Stephen Shore’s “Michael and Sandy Marsh, Amarillo, Texas” (1974)

These shots caused quite a stir for the team. Some images retain their impact while others looked downright mediocre afterwards. So what’s your opinion? Are there some photos we shouldn’t mess with on Instagram?
